Progesterone Testing in Dogs – Timing Breeding for Best Results

Progesterone testing is an essential method used to accurately determine the ideal time to breed your female dog. This testing measures the level of progesteron; a hormone that naturally increases as your dog approaches ovulation. By monitoring these changes, we can identify her most fertile days, improving the chances of a successful mating or artificial insemination.

This is especially important for:

Testing usually begins a few days after the start of the heat cycle and continues every couple of days until ovulation is confirmed, however we do recommend testing around day 9/10.
